Paver Cleaning, Re-Sanding and Sealing

Paver restoration is a full multi-step process, not just a wash. We deep clean the pavers, replace the polymeric joint sand that has washed out over the years, and seal the surface to lock in colour and resist future staining. The result is closer to a new installation than a cleaning, and a sealed paver patio stays looking that way for years rather than months.

Why it matters

What you get with our paver restoration

Colour comes back

Pavers do not fade nearly as much as people assume. Most of what looks like fading is a film of dirt and organic growth sitting on top of the stone.

Joint sand replaced

Washed-out joints are what let pavers shift, sink, and sprout weeds. Fresh polymeric sand locks the field back together.

Sealed against stains

A quality sealer resists oil, leaf tannin, and efflorescence, and makes every future cleaning dramatically easier.

Formally trained

Paver restoration is a specialised discipline with real failure modes if done wrong. We are trained in the full clean, re-sand, and seal process.

How it works

Our process, step by step

  1. Deep clean

The full paver field is surface cleaned and old joint sand, weeds, and moss are flushed out.

  2. Dry out

Pavers must be fully dry before sanding and sealing. This is why proper restoration is not a same-day job.

  3. Re-sand the joints

Fresh polymeric sand is swept in, compacted, and set so the field locks together and resists weeds.

  4. Seal

A penetrating or wet-look sealer is applied to protect the surface and bring out the colour of the stone.

Your questions answered

Paver Cleaning and Restoration questions

How much does paver restoration cost?

Full paver restoration projects start at around $1,500. The price depends on square footage, how much joint sand needs replacing, and which sealer finish you want. A straight cleaning without re-sanding and sealing costs considerably less.

How long does the whole process take?

It is not a same-day job. Pavers have to be completely dry between cleaning and sealing, so a full restoration typically spans two or more visits depending on weather.

What is the difference between sealed and unsealed?

Sealing locks in the colour, resists oil and organic stains, helps hold the joint sand in place, and makes future cleanings far easier. Unsealed pavers absorb stains directly into the stone and need cleaning much more often.

Can you get rid of the weeds growing between my pavers?

Yes. Weeds grow because the polymeric sand in the joints has washed out over time. Cleaning the joints and re-sanding with fresh polymeric sand removes the weeds and stops them coming back.
