Multi-step wood restoration

Deck and Fence Cleaning and Restoration

Wood needs a different approach from concrete. Too much pressure furs the grain and permanently damages the board. Our deck and fence washing is a multi-step process (clean, brighten, and neutralise) that strips grey weathering and mildew while leaving the wood surface intact and properly prepared to take a stain or sealer.

Why it matters

What you get with our deck and fence

Correct pressure for wood

Wood is soft. Excessive pressure raises the grain and leaves permanent wand marks. We clean chemically first and use pressure sparingly.

Brightened, not just washed

A brightening step restores the natural tone of weathered wood and neutralises pH so stain absorbs evenly afterward.

Ready to stain

If you plan to stain or seal, a proper multi-step wash is the difference between a finish that lasts and one that peels within a season.

Dramatic transformation

Grey, tired decks and fences come back remarkably well. This is one of the most satisfying jobs we do.

How it works

Our process, step by step

  1. Assess the wood

We check board condition, existing finish, and any rot or loose fasteners before deciding the approach.

  2. Clean

A wood-safe cleaner breaks down mildew, algae, and the grey oxidised layer with minimal pressure.

  3. Brighten and neutralise

A brightener restores natural tone and balances the pH so the wood is ready to accept a finish.

  4. Rinse and dry

Thorough rinse, then the wood is left to dry fully before any staining or sealing is applied.

Your questions answered

Deck and Fence Washing questions

Will pressure washing damage my deck?

No. The goal is to clean, not harm surfaces. We adjust pressure for each area like siding, pavers, decks, or concrete. On wood specifically we rely on cleaning solution and low pressure, because high pressure raises the grain and leaves permanent marks.

Can you clean my deck before I stain it?

That is exactly what a multi-step wash is for. Cleaning, brightening, and neutralising the wood gives stain a properly prepared surface to bond to. Staining over a dirty or unbalanced deck is the most common reason finishes fail early.

How long before I can stain after washing?

Wood needs to dry thoroughly first, typically 48 hours of dry weather and sometimes longer in humid conditions. We will tell you when the deck is ready.

Do you clean composite decking too?

Yes. Composite still grows mildew and algae in shaded and damp areas. It cleans up well with the right solution and low pressure.
